Concert Flyer Assignment

Choice 6: Drop Jaws Turner
I apologize for this sketch, Drop Jaws doesn’t have the neatest penmanship. Drop Jaws Turner is a jazz musician that has the chance to play at the Sydney Opera House in December. He’s a main act and would like his name at the top right corner where the big Xs are.
Below that, where the small Xs are, he would like it to say December 14–16th, Sydney Opera House and include in small print the other acts, which include: Gooey Martin, Willy Mimbs, Sketch Friendly, Tootsy Childs, Sammy Biltmore, No-Talent Jones, Anwar Benitez, Bossy Marmalade, Bad-Check Mazurski, Ray Ray Takamura, Shaky Premise, Bootsy Crouton, Richard Sakai, The Premarital Sextet, C. S. I. Miami, D. W. Jitters, The Chub Group, and Cantaloupe St. Pierre. Yes, quite a bit, but make it easy to read and not cluttered.

Drop Jaws loves, absolutely loves Art Deco. The style, color, font— everything must mimic that style in order for this flyer to be successful, hence the big note circled a bunch of times on the sketch. Actually the placement that he has in the sketch isn’t that important. If you think the copy would go better at the bottom, that’s fine. It can be portrait orientation, too, these are just the main things Drop Jaws needs to be present.

The graphics include an old microphone, Drop Jaws is quite fond of the EV model 640, 1950’s Shure 55 Big Elvis, and the Electronic Voice Model 726 Big Elvis. There’s a stark spot light that comes down onto it. The art deco text in the circle is to remind you of the style he wants, and shouldn’t be a graphic on the final flyer. The design should also include the Sydney Opera House with it’s pristine water and any other little details to make the flyer say art deco.
Final Project.
